The Student Climate Survey is an important part of the feedback process. It is necessary at the end of every school year to find out how the students felt about everything from teacher behavior to school culture. We see that, "The student survey of school climate is one data source that helps assess the degree to which the district is meeting its core commitments..." (Seattle Public Schools, n.d., School Climate Surveys). In order for the state curriculum to develop and shift to better reflect the needs of the students, the climate survey becomes an essential assessment for the future of education.
The survey below was adapted from the U.S. Department of Education National Center for Education Statistics. It contains a specific list of questions designed to maximize student feedback without asking for extraneous work. Below is the actual student survey handed out at the end of each school year.
While the included survey is extremely robust, it would only be administered at the end of each semester/trimester/quarter. All of the information would be collected and synthesized into figures that could then be reviewed to understand the safety, education, and culture of the school.
